Our Prejudiced Shadow

From the beginning, the tone of the letters was mild, yet it was clear those responsible held biased views about the world. Over time, it became apparent their opinions extended far beyond us. Unfortunately, with the rise of social media, everyone’s lives became an open book—no one was exempt. As a community, we share our victories, achievements, and joyful moments—not seeking validation, but to honour those meaningful times. However, the authors expressed disheartening opinions about any event shared or celebrated. Their hurtful remarks targeted weddings, communions, sporting events—anything that fueled their distorted perspectives. Their true nature was unmistakably revealed when they voiced inappropriate sentiments about how a family funeral should be conducted.

As we all know, life offers no rehearsals for its moments, no matter the emotions involved. We simply strive to make each experience worthy of the feelings attached. Our so-called expert insists the world must be exact and precise according to their rigid standards. They believe people should behave in every moment exactly as they dictate. Their opinions range from solving the Da Vinci Code to proving the world is flat. The likely cause of such beliefs points to a narcissistic mindset—a term mentioned often in their own venting toward us. Ironically, these are the very traits they themselves display.

We live in a world where many people struggle to mind their own business. The cars we drive, the clothes we wear, and the homes we live in often become topics of unsolicited judgment. It’s perfectly fine to admire others’ achievements and offer congratulations on their success. What’s not acceptable is when people try to impose their ideologies and pass harsh judgment. Some of us are vulnerable and tend to believe the negative messages directed our way. Too often, we’re reluctant to accept praise or gratitude.

I suspect that some of these individuals may have lived previous lives under oppressive regimes like communism, carrying those experiences into the present. Perhaps it’s always been part of their nature, but some significant event triggered a deep-seated resentment and toxic outlook. I would welcome the chance for them to share their views openly, but I doubt they will. Since they are active on social media, I suggest they use these platforms or even traditional media to explain their actions and beliefs. It would certainly be a show worth listening to.

However, it seems they have gone into hiding, remaining absent for nearly two months. Where, oh where, is this shadow? They continue to live in a veil of mystery within our community, silently observing and shaping narratives that feed their abstract mindset.
