Counting Your Blessings

This week has been quite eventful. Dave had been experiencing chest pains for several days, which we initially dismissed as simple indigestion. However, when the pain persisted, Dave wisely scheduled an appointment with his GP. His doctor was concerned, and before we knew it, we were on our way to the hospital. For those who know us well, drama isn’t our style, so we spent the car journey chatting and laughing, confident it was just a precautionary visit.

Dave was seen promptly, and an ECG was performed along with blood tests. We were informed that the blood results would take about 45 minutes. When the results came back, we learned from the doctor that Dave would need to be admitted. He was being treated for a “heart attack”. Even now, as I write this, I’m still trying to process it. Earlier, we had joked on the way over, saying, “Imagine if you had a heart attack,” never imagining it would actually be the case. As I type, Dave is undergoing an angiogram procedure, and if a stent is necessary, they will proceed with inserting it.

Life is incredibly unpredictable and full of countless unexpected surprises that often catch us completely off guard; we can never truly know, predict, or anticipate what might be waiting just around the very next corner in the ongoing journey of our lives. No one ever really expects, foresees, or even imagines that something like this could happen to them personally or have such a deep and profound impact on their own life in such a significant and meaningful way.

I, for one, am genuinely and deeply grateful, and I find myself continually counting my many blessings that Dave received this incredibly important warning just in time. There are countless people out there who are simply not as fortunate or as lucky to have such a crucial chance to change their path. Dave is one of those rare and exceptional individuals who is always in excellent spirits and good form, consistently maintaining a positive attitude no matter the circumstances. He always has a clever joke up his sleeve or a funny story to share that can instantly brighten anyone’s day and lift their mood. Beyond his wonderful sense of humor, he is always more than willing to lend a helping hand wherever it is needed, never hesitating to offer his unwavering support. He constantly prioritizes the needs and well-being of his family and friends above his own personal needs, demonstrating remarkable selflessness, kindness, and generosity. He is so deeply loved by everyone around him, and I, for one, could never even imagine life without him by my side. We love you the “mucher of the muchness” Dave.

Have a good weekend.

  1. Susan.
Your week sounds like it was more than just eventful .So happy to hear that David is recovering well. I cannot imagine how you are feeling. Maybe just maybe now those people who are sending letters, will realise the impact it has on People in general.
Karma has a way of coming back to those who do wrong to others. Wait and see.
I don’t like using foul language, but (For fuck sake ) what are the guards doing.
After 6 years come on, get your (arses) in gear.
Find these culprits and bring them to justice.
Susan and David you are so strong, after all ye have gone through.
God bless you both and take care of eachother.
